Praça Martim Moniz, a project that provided the recovery, among many other components, of the water element as a long-forgotten urban concept, introduced in different ways “water games”, fountains, ” lines”, “repuxos”, built around a symbology and strict geometry, linked to the history of the past, through a symbolic reformulation of the memory of the place, contribution to the “Chronicle” of the City.
A square whose surrounding perimeter is protected by a green area, designed with the objective of providing greater privacy the passers-by who cross it, in addition to the obvious “aesthetic/environmental/ecological” factor, as well as the existence of rest areas, cafes, dusted, and other activities related to small commerce, are the contribution of moments of leisure/fun to the people who walk there.
Martim Moniz in addition, it was one of the engines that promoted and generated urban requalification in areas near the square, which today became landmarks in the city.
Martim Moniz like all public spaces, without exception from any, to last qualified ly in time, should be the subject of periodic maintenance, cleaning, naturally becoming safe environments, also necessary requirements for sustainable urban development and in harmony with the experience of the populations that live at the service of the citizen.
